Time for a Reframe
There have been so many times of the past 10 months where I wanted to say something — so many times I’ve been inspired by the world around me that I wanted to share with the #WickedWriters community. And yet, I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I could give a number of excuses but at the root of it all was really not knowing what the next chapter of Wicked Writers looks like. Since 2020, we’ve been a podcast, a newsletter, a content creation consultancy, and a space to share stories and resources about writing and art. That’s a lot of things!
So, what’s next? Instead of some grand new idea or business plan, I’m commiting to community building — which I think was the point all along.
When you’re sharing stories, art, and opportunities to collaborate, you are creating something larger than yourself — whether you have 1 or 1,000 subscribers. And the ripple effects have the potential to be limitless.
There are many people in my life who have asked “What happened to your newsletter?” And as someone who works as a content curator, I thought I had to have a plan fleshed out before reinvigorating Wicked Writers.
Guess what — the plan is there is no plan. Actually, that’s not true. There are so many beautiful stories I want to share — whether it’s my latest piece of art, a poem, a community gathering, or an opportunity to engage with one another.
I know myself well enough to know commiting to a weekly newsletter likely wouldn’t last so while this goes against everything you are taught in marketing/communications, I’m going to publish when I have something to share. It may be a picture, it may be a poem, it may be something inspirational or a fun new class I’m trying. The point is I’m just going to put my words and my art into the world and anyone who wants to join in is more than welcome.
So, welcome to the reframed Wicked Writers — a creative community with a purpose. Where words and art meet, ideas take shape, and projects are born through shared connection.
Stay #Wicked,
Rachael
