Telling Your Story
Shameless plug UPDATE: I've got one slot left for a lucky female-identifying entrepreneur to receive a special offer for an "about me" section rewrite for their website and a complimentary feature in this newsletter during the month of March. Drop me a line at rachaeldubinsky@gmail.com to claim the final spot.
Last week was International Women's Day and I was so excited to finally be able to attend the Simmons University/MassNOW breakfast! It was a great morning filled with inspirational words from local women and forming connections with local organizations supporting women across the Commonwealth (um, did you know you can be an adult Girl Scout?! h/t Girl Scouts of Eastern MA)
I was struck by the "realness" in the speaking program. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu recanted having to pass notes with her youngest son under a desk while giving a live interview. Emmy-nominated WCVB reporter and former Miss Massachusetts, Katrina Kincade, opened up about her mental health struggles and how she seeks out news stories that lift people up. Celia Johnson Blue, launched the Massachusetts Women of Color Coalition and was the first African American to serve as the head of the RMV. And Avery Covitz, a high schooler who is three time nationally qualified powerlifter with USA Powerlifting and a two-time National Varsity Teen Silver Medalist.
Also, LOVED the HerSHEy bars from Girls on the Run Greater Boston!
This is all to say that telling your story is vital. It doesn't matter if it's a one-on-one conversation or a sold out room of women activist, putting voice to what makes you who you are is an incredibly strong foundation for connecting with others.
Short & Sweet
I have to be honest, the content gods have rained down on me and I'm currently swimming in a lot of good work! I'm loving working with some amazing female-identifying entrepreneurs to help them tell their stories, moving full steam ahead on internal communications at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and some other private sector client work.
So, that's all she wrote (pun intended) for this week. Girl's got to give herself a break sometimes.
Tune in for some exciting #femaleentrepreneur features next week.
As always, stay #wicked,
Rachael
