Dear #wickedwriters,
So this is what calm feels like?! Yesterday was a glorious day filled with many emotions as we welcomed President Biden and Vice President Harris. I don’t know about you but I feel like I can finally exhale.
A lot of people are talking about the amazing Amanda Gorman, youth poet laureate and inaugural poet. If you haven’t watcher her “The Hill We Climb” performance, please stop reading and click this link. And then make sure to pre-order her books: The Hill We Climb (poetry collection) and Change Sings (children’s book).
Speaking of great black women authors, Zenda Walker, one of my first podcast guests has officially published her children’s book. Because you’re already on Amazon anyways, make sure to pick up a copy of Know Your Hairitage: Zara’s Wash Day.
And ICYMI, I had two amazing guests on the pod these past two weeks, so make sure to listen to the latest episodes:
Jamie Kmak, Cambridge biotech scientist, multi-hobbyist and Transgender activist
Zorana Pringle, my first campaign mom and emotional intelligence researcher at Yale
Also, we have a very special Super Bowl episode coming up on Feb 2 featuring my fiancé, Dan Cagen (yes, Sasha’s brother), and Tim Whelan (currently Regional Director of Sports for Gannett/USA Today) who worked together back in the day to cover the Bruins and the Patriots, respectively, to talk about sports writing. And since my sports knowledge is very limited, hilarity will surely ensue.
That’s all she wrote for now :)
